Global Point Energy’s management team has a strong background in the solar industry and renewable energy projects including one of the 1st 10 MW solar farms in Canada built in 2010.

Our core management team of qualified people, entrepreneurs, companies and resources combine a number of disciplines to provide a wide variety of expertise, including worldwide sourcing, marketing, manufacturing and international logistics, and completed world-wide renewable energy projects.

Rob Hawthorne, President; Global Point Energy & Global Point Logistics ULC

Rob has a proven record of accomplishment as a successful entrepreneur for many years in the Peterborough area, with a solid background in management, manufacturing, and implementing new technology processes. Rob started a mobile wash business (City Mobile Wash), which he successfully ran for 24 years. City Mobile Wash evolved into an industrial high-pressure water, sandblast, coating and multi-media blasting business with customers in Canada and the U.S. Some of City’s customers were Quaker Oats, the City of Peterborough, the Port of Montreal, St. Mary’s Cement, Kawartha Pine Ridge School Board, General Electric, and Sysco Foods, to name a few. In 1992, City Mobile Wash branched out and formed City Insulation, a company that provided spray Urethane foam, acoustic and fire proofing spray foam. This division also did work for the City of Peterborough. City Mobile Wash was sold in 2004, and still operates under that name.

Dan Beard, Director Operations

21 years experience in Operations management with Sysco Food Services, 11 years as Vice President of Operations responsible for annual operating budgets in excess of 30 million dollars, managing staff of 300 employees that delivered annual sales of 400 million to more than 9000 customers throughout the province of Ontario. Extensive training in Leadership Development, Operations Management, Labour Relations and Engineered Labour Standards. Certificates earned through Niagara Institute LDP, Queens University Labour Relations, MTO, DDI International and Sysco Corporation.

Eric C Lund, Technical Director

25 years of experience in the fields of power generation and energy. Eric’s previous experience at Combustion Engineering Inc, Consumer and Corporate Affairs Canada, ECS Power Systems Inc, and Asea Brown Boveri Inc (ABB) encompassed a range of responsibilities including design/development engineering, project management, corporate management, economic analysis, and business development. Mr. Lund’s development engineering activities include the design and construction of numerous large scale projects including: Petrosar refinery-gas industrial steam generator, Alberta Power Sheerness coal-fired steam generator and the Suncor Fort McMurray project (400 MWe).

Mr. Lund spent several years working in a business development capacity at ABB, responsible for the formulation of complex technical proposals, and the negotiation of contracts for steam turbines, gas turbines, steam generators, and complete turn-key power plants.

Greg Palmer, Advisor

Greg has over 35 years of experience in marketing and sales with a variety of major corporations including Johnson & Johnson, Xerox, CB Richard Ellis and Colliers International. He is presently an owner of commercial real estate properties. His role with GPE is both as an investor and advisor.

John Hoff, Affiliate

A 1976 graduate of Colgate University, John began his career with Waste Management in financial and operational auditing. In 1978, he joined JB Finnegan Associates selling custom-made components to OEMs. In 1984, he began sourcing components in Japan and Taiwan. Two years later he expanded his territories into Hong Kong and China. In 1989, John founded Global Point Technology, based outside of Rochester, NY. Their Far East office in Shatin, Hong Kong opened in 1996 followed in 1999 by an office in Shenzhen, China.

During that same year, Canada-based Global Point Design, located in Oakville, Ontario, was founded. Between 2000 and 2008, several joint ventures were formed resulting in six factories in China and Thailand. Also during that time, Global Point Logistics in Peterborough, Ontario was founded. Currently, the Global Point group of companies has international manufacturing, sourcing, engineering and distribution capabilities.

Eric Gregory, IT Support

Eric brings 25 years experience in Information Technology with 17 years at Sysco Corporation supporting and maintaining their complex IT systems. He is responsible for the monitoring systems attached to our solar installations to ensure production continuity and performance.
